One of the most active and visible organizations of the Parish, St. Olave's Arts Guild is pleased to be celebrating its 19th anniversary this year. During worship services, the Guild has been privileged to share the Word of God through Christmas Pageants, Easter Pageants, Epistle Plays, Sermon-Length Plays, and Dramatic Readings. We have also presented Puppet Plays during coffee hours and Junior Church assemblies for the enjoyment of young and old alike.
Reaching out into the community, we are particularly proud of our "Triple Crown" in the 1990's, presenting three major productions in three consecutive years: "The Importance of Being Earnest" (1994), "Blithe Spirit" (1995), and "Murder is a Game" (1996).
The Guild has had a leading role in St. Olave's social activities, including theatre outings to Stratford, Dream in High Park, Mystery Dinner Theatre, and several community playhouses. In 2008 we became members of the DanCap Church Partnership Program! As a result, in the summer of 2010, we are delighted to announce our being invited to the matinee performance of SOUTH PACIFIC at the Four Seasons Centre on Saturday, August 21st or Wednesday, August 25th. Members of the St Olave's parish can contact DanCap for discounted prices on this Tony award winning musical and have a charitable donation made back to St. Olave's.
Plans are now underway for our 2010 Annual Fall Festival Parish Pot Luck Dinner! Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 23, 2010. The creative team that brought us last year's smash production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat" will be planning an entertaining evening. Tickets should be available be mid-September, with a substantial portion of the proceeds going to a worthy St. Olave's cause. In this same October weekend, we will also sponsor an art display, with works completed by the talented members of our parish.
