St. Olave's Junior Church
Children are a welcome and very important part of St. Olave's. At the
beginning of most services, Rev. Burrows will call all school-aged children
forward for a brief message. Then the children go downstairs to assemble for
prayer, fellowship and song. Children are divided into three
classes:
- Junior---ages 3* to SK.
- Intermediate---grades 1, 2 and 3.
- Senior---grades 4 and up.
*Some children are not ready at age 3 to participate fully but may benefit
from observing classes with a parent.
In 2010 we began using a new curriculum from Augsburg Fortress called Spark.
Junior Church leaders are happy to welcome new or visiting students at any
time of the year. Parents may also join the group for part or all of the
session as their comfort level dictates. Parents are asked to come
downstairs at the end of the service to retrieve their children.
On the first Sunday* of each month children come upstairs to receive blessing
during Communion and stay with their family for the remainder of the
service. On the last Sunday* of every month, the children participate in a
Prayer Circle at the end of the service with a member of St. Olave's
congregation. The fifth Sunday of the month [October, January and May] are
family services, in which the children act out the lessons and sing an anthem
